Family Counseling

Family counseling services are provided in a safe, supportive, confidential, and friendly environment by trained professionals who are dedicated to your family’s health and success. TMC also provides counseling services for individuals, couples, college students, teenagers, and children as young as age 4.

Prior to the first session, the counselor meets with you to gather detailed information about your family’s needs, current situation, medical history, legal circumstances, previous counseling and/or psychiatric experiences, general health, personal sleep habits, work habits, spiritual history, and more. Assessment allows the counselor to establish plan of steps to facilitate your family’s healing process. The initial assessment session usually lasts about 2 hours.

Family Counseling

While students are generally seen one-on-one at TMC, children (as young as age 4) and adolescents can receive counseling when one or more parent receives counseling also. TMC does not provide court-ordered counseling or counseling required by law during a custody conflict, divorce, or legal battle.

TMC counseling empowers you to understand yourself, your family, and your circumstances, guide you through the healing process, and equip you with tools you need live in a healthy way. Counseling sessions are by appointment. The majority of counseling is held face-to-face. Phone sessions, email counseling, and Skype sessions are offered at the discretion of the counselor. Regular sessions usually last 1 – 1.5 hours. Together, you and your counselor discuss your starting point and move forward from there. The counselor regularly assigns short activities or “homework” for you to complete on your own in between sessions as a way of applying principles that have been learned together. At the end of your session, the counselor will pray for you.

Additional Classes

You are encouraged to attend additional classes sponsored by TMC which provide information about living a God-centered lifestyle, particularly on topics which are appropriate to your situation.  Classes vary in length. (Learn more about TMC Classes.)
